Local Overview

Getting to know Farmington.

Farmington is the county seat of Davis County, set between the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake. It blends a historic Main Street district, home to the pioneer-era Rock Chapel, with newer neighborhoods and the Station Park shopping, dining and entertainment center.

It's also home to Lagoon amusement park and the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, one of the best places on the Wasatch Front to watch birds along the lake's eastern shore.

Neighborhoods

Historic homes near Main Street, east-bench neighborhoods with mountain and lake views, and newer communities closer to Station Park and the west side.

Lifestyle

Station Park, Lagoon, the Main Street historic district and Farmington Pond make for an easy mix of everyday convenience and weekend fun.

Schools

Farmington is served by Davis School District, which is headquartered in the city. Always confirm school boundaries for a specific address.

Commute

FrontRunner stops at Farmington station at Station Park. I-15, US-89 and the Legacy Parkway meet in Farmington, which makes trips north and south straightforward.

Outdoor recreation

The Farmington Creek Trail and Bonneville Shoreline Trail climb the foothills. Out west, the Eccles Wildlife Education Center has a 1.6-mile accessible nature loop beside Farmington Bay, and the paved Legacy Parkway Trail runs south toward North Salt Lake.

School assignments, commute times and amenities change. Please verify details for any specific property with the school district, city or listing.

Healthy Home Notes

Healthy home notes for Farmington homes.

As a Certified Conscious Healthy Home (CCH) Realtor®, Alisha helps buyers notice conditions worth a closer look. Here's what to keep in mind when touring homes in Farmington.

Radon: test every home

Radon is a naturally occurring gas from soil and rock, and you can't see or smell it. Utah DEQ recommends testing every home, and reports that about one in three Utah homes tests above the EPA action level of 4 pCi/L.

Davis County Health Department offers free seasonal radon testing for county residents, November through March (details). During a purchase, a certified radon tester can be scheduled within due diligence.

Moisture & mold

From historic homes near Main Street to newer builds, check how water drains around the home. Bench lots handle spring runoff, and lower areas toward the bay can have a higher water table.

Worth a closer look: basements and crawlspaces, window wells, grading and gutters, bathroom ventilation, and any history of leaks or water damage on the seller disclosure.

Air quality: inversions & smoke

Wasatch Front winters bring temperature inversions that trap fine particulate pollution (PM2.5) near the valley floor, and summer wildfire smoke can affect air quality too.

Good questions to ask: how the HVAC is maintained, what filtration it can handle, and how the home is ventilated. Daily conditions are posted at air.utah.gov.

Every buyer Alisha represents receives a complimentary mold inspection during due diligence from Cody Hidalgo, InterNACHI Certified Mold Inspector, and Frankie, his certified mold detection dog.

Educational information only, not medical, legal or inspection advice. Testing and inspections are performed by licensed professionals and do not replace a general home inspection.
